These are names table tennis fans should start memorizing, as these lucky young players managed to qualify for the Olympic Youth Games 2014 in Nanjing.

In the qualification Event in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, Adriana Diaconu from Romania and Miyu Kato (JPN) qualified directly by proceeding to the semi-finals. The first 4 places automatically receive their ticket to Nanjing. Qualified by World Ranking (U18) and the “Road to Nanjing” events are Maria Malanina (RUS), Nicole Trosman (ISR) and Audrey Zarif (FRA).

In the Boys’ competition, Hungary’s Adam Szudi and his Czech Colleague David Reitspies where happy to receive an invitation to Nanjing by qualifying in the semi-finals. Szudi managed to beat the no 1 seed Hugo Calderano with 4-1 in the process. Other tickets went to Diogo Chen (POR) and Tomislav Pucar (CRO).

Qualifying for the Olympics was a special victory for Patryk Zatowka from Poland. The World Cadet Champion, No.1 Youth player in Poland, managed to keep up with expectations. His coach Piotr Zafranek attests his success to his hard working ambition and mental strength.
